EastBaySports.Com Advisory Board

Bob Kaehms, Publisher/Editor

Bob is the former editor-in-chief of Web Techniques, the leading web development magazine for the internet community. He has a long past with Internet development, even before the birth of the URL.  His early gopher server (for those who remember that program) was used extensively throughout Lockheed, and written about in Dr. Dobbs Journal.  He was the Director of Computing at Internet Archive, the non-profit side of Alexa Internet.  While there, he was responsible for the first backup of all publicly available content on the Internet, a 2-terabyte collection that was eventually donated to the Library of Congress.

He is a native of the east bay, and still active in sports himself,  including masters swimming. His big events of the year include the one hour postal swim, held in January, and the Trans-Tahoe relay, held in July. Bob has recently taken a sabbatical from his full time position as Chief Technology Officer at Media Net Link (http://www.mnl.com),  to start EastBaySports.Com.

His father, Jack Croghan, is one of the true pioneers of AAU /USS Swimming on the pacific coast, with a career that span over sixty years. Being a swimming athlete in the Croghan household was not an opinion. With three All American swimming siblings in the family, expectations were high. But, with strong family values and a true nack to make swimming a blast, Jack Croghan assembled a 350 member traveling circus of swimmers that will remain unparalleled even by today's standards.

He is presently contracted by Microsoft, WebTV, where he is helping to launch a whole new way the world will watch and interact with there televisions. Prior to WebTV, Mike was Director of Sponsorships at Acteva.com, a B to B internet ticketing company, where he fostered relationships with promoters, sponsors, and media partnerships, including Ask Jeezes.com Greenlight.com, Pets.com, Elance.com, LA events, The Filmore, Maritime, Hall, NFL alumni, 415 tech, and IMom.com. Before Acteva, Mike was V.P. of Sales and Marketing for the San Jose Sabercats Arena Football Team, where he oversaw sponsorship sales totaling over 1.3 million dollars. From 1982 through 1997 Mike held various executive marketing positions within such companies as Granny Goose Foods, CBS-Radio, Sears Point Raceway, Englerter and Cross Advertising, and Lucky Stores Advertising

An East Bay Native, Mike lives in Castro Valley with his wife and four children. His oldest is attending college in Oregon and the younger three are in middle school and high school.
